Tolleson is a city located in Maricopa County, Arizona. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total
population of 4,974.

There are 1,432 households out of which 39.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them,
52.7% are married couples living together, 19.8% have a female householder with no husband present,
and 19.6% are non-families. 15.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.1% have
someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.47 and the
average family size is 3.83.

In the city the population is spread out with 32.4% under the age of 18, 10.9% from 18 to 24, 27.4%
from 25 to 44, 19.4% from 45 to 64, and 9.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 29
years. For every 100 females there are 102.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are
100.8 males.
